Bring Out the Halloween Decorations

October 17, 2014 Laura Leave a Comment

My daughter, Addie yelled, “Mom, aren’t we ever going to put out Halloween Decorations”?”

I admit, I was probably later than usual putting out the Autumn things/Halloween decorations. I like putting out the apples, baskets, Just plain old pumpkins, etc. My daughters both wanted to see something with Halloween sooner then later. Not necesarily Spooky, Scary type things, just “something” Halloween!

Ok, Ok. I put up the Halloween decorations but in a way that is still is kinda cute, a combination of a bit of Vintage/New Vintage and some current items from the Big Box stores.

Here is my Night time version on top of the coat closet-head high:

SkullI got this skull in the Clearance area of A big box craft store. He’s missing the back of skull but that doesn’t bother him or me none!

My Autumn Vignette at the bottom of my stairs before you go into my office. This can stay up through Thanksgiving which I like. It’s always a work in progress.

While shopping at a local JoAnn Fabric store I found this cool Door Screen that was 50% off-Yes! Why is it that the camera brings out the folds and wrinkles!!! (If my Hubby were shopping, He would have bought it 2 weeks after Halloween and got it for .50! That’s how He rolls. I like it and had to have it. End of story.

Ok-On to the Halloween card and the Home Decor Piece that inspired it.

I was inspired by our CEO and Co-founder-Shelli Gardner’s tag idea shown at Convention 2014 in July.

I made this card and and home decor piece in early September.

We have a card first then a piece of wood I found at Goodwill I think for .49.

Here is the VERY Scary Before-ugh can’t believe I bought it but I knew I could turn it into something.

It’s been sitting for awhile-well cured!

My-Block-of-Wood

I used Black acrylic paint and the front was Barcelona Orange Chalk Paint. It was the perfect look and color. I stamped it with Tangelo Twist, added the paper and linen thread and I have a great Home Decor idea. I had a bunch of blocks cut up for most of my stamp clubs this month so that they could make one too.
