Being an American, 9/11 forever changed all of us. Stampin’ Up! made a wonderful stamp in the remembrance of the September 11, 2001 tragedy. The entire purchase of this stamp was donated. I love this stamp but on the other hand, I’m sorry it had been made. I’m sorry that so many people died. I am so sorry so many people were injured. I’m sorry people came to Harm us. I’m so sorry so many have died since and are ill now because of being around the area of the fallout. I’m sorry so many Firemen and Police Officers died. I’m sorry so many troops died and so many injured from when they went after those who harmed us. There is such loss that I can’t even count or even try to think about.
I was 33. My husband was still working as a Police officer during that time, I was working in Hospital Security, Deputized by Walworth County, having left my Police Jobs. I wasn’t sure at that point if I should go Full time on a Police Dept or if we should even have kids, or did I want to enlist in the Marine Corp. Lots of long talks about this. I was a bit lost. I think, looking back, the whole country was, for a moment. I decided to just go forward with Stampin’ Up! and dive into recruiting and selling. Stamps and creating, helped make people happy, normal, and distracted. I was helping people feel good. I was feeling good. It was a weird, very sad moment in time. Everything changed.
Today, I sat with my Youngest child, Addie, and watched for a few hours, the bells chiming, moments of Silence, names being read. I feel patriotic now, just as I did then. I didn’t feel like crying. I did have moments when they showed the planes, tingles went up and down my spine. We need to get back, talk about things, love a little, or maybe just try to like a little. September 12th, We came together as a Country, and we were ALL PATRIOTIC. There was no “WOKE” moment. There was no Red and Blue. It was RED, WHITE, and BLUE. I miss that feeling. I felt like we all were united. I hope, as a country, we can start healing, going forward. I still have my view, you have yours. It’s Ok, We are AMERICANS. We are allowed that. I’m thinking some people out there, need to get on a porch in rural America, and talk. Whatever the view, Beers will be served, you just might have earned respect. Yes, it’s a wish. Only time will tell. I just know that I am happy to be alive and to have been truly safe for the last 20 yrs. I pray that my family and your family will continue to be so.
